 Montepulciano Abruzzo D.O.C. Wine

Origin: From vineyards partly situated in the territory of Controguerra and partly in the territory of Torano Nuovo, 310 metres above sea level.

Subsoil composition: Medium mix soil tending to clayey.

Grape Varieties: Organic grapes, 100% Montepulciano.

Vineyard characteristics: The vineyard is cultivated adopting the GDC system and has been readjusted over the years to comply with new productive requirements to 1250 plants per hectare, planting year 1978.Oriented partly eastwards and partly southwards.

Vintage and vinification: The grapes are picked, after careful selection, starting after the first ten days in October. The grapes are stripped, pressed and vinified according to traditional red vinification method with long maceration in contact with the peel in  thermoconditioned stainless steel tanks, not allowing fermentation temperature to go over 26°C. When malolatic fermentation is completed the wine continues its process by resting in stainless steel barrels for about 6-7 months, at the end of this stage bottling is carried out. Further refinement in the bottle for at least 12 months is the last step before it is put on sale.

Organoleptic characteristics: Colour: ruby-red with violaceous reflections when young Aroma: red berries, pleasant, persistent Flavour: in the mouth it reveals good  body, deep, full, round, harmonic, persistent.

Gastronomy: It accompanies red meat roasts, braised meats, game, semi-mature cheese, ideal with lamb and kid meat.
